Compatibilism always seems contrived to me, like the more you try to read into it the more it falls apart. Ultimately the only reason people argue about these things is to prove moral responsibility exists. But even our societies, which largely don’t care about determinism and Philosophy, are not consistent on this point. Like when a court dismisses a murderer on grounds of insanity - suddenly all moral responsibility is out the window and everyone becomes incompatiblists.
