i like that movie, but even as a child in the 90s, i already had a very developed aesthetic sense of disliking any movies/media that came out after ca. the mid-80s. there is something insipid about the aesthetic of movies ca. 1990 vs ca. 1985, the grain of the film, the mood, the sensibility, the lighting. they just felt 'off', flat emotionally.
