57M here and still love coding. Ageism is very real - but so is the tech shortage. So it's a good time to be a greybeard. I was at a Google event a few years back. A colleague (53M) expressed to a Google PM his interest in coming to work for Google. The PM said bluntly "Google doesn't hire people over 50".

It's true. Google flooded the market with experienced pros in the last few years. They're already rich enough they don't need to work for Bezos, they can dabble in government work or whatever. |

Between shitty map directions, gmail with impossible to follow message format and retarded outdated storage limitations, failure to build self driving cars that don't kill people, inability to market a smartphone to non-losers, cringey megadork shit like google glasses, crappy "chromebooks" so megapoors can save $100, and now this "AI overview" bullshit on the main search like they are trying really hard to convince ppl to give duckduckgo a go.
