this seems cr

maybe 100m butterfly above 400 IM bc butterfly is the most alpha of strokes

TINTCR 400 IM should be 2 after 100 free. 400 IM = “best swimmer in the world” since the 90s.

Subject: e

Based on wikipedia he swam twice at big meets and got 7th and 4th.

He held the national record for a whle based on his relay split (he led off).

My guess is if you asked him and his coaches, he could've been competitive in the 100 m but it wasn't his strongest event and he already had a pretty full program...

He won 5 individual events in 2008. Spitz in 1972 and Marchand (this year) won 4. At a certain point your going to overextend yourself, especially since most people only do 1 or 2 individual events. The chinaman who set the world record in 100 free also swam 200 free but didn’t make it out of first round

1) He was shitty af at breast this current French guy smoked his breast splits in 400 IM by 3+ seconds. 2) He was already doing a shitton of events and frequently had the situation where he had to swim prelims less than an hour after a final. So he prioritized his best events. 3) He was an OK backstroker but through most of his prime you had Piersol and Krayzelburg breaking WRs in 100 and 200, so in theory he could’ve prioritized backstroke if there weren’t better US backstrokers but US was dominant in the 00s and early 10s.

Same answer as why he didn’t do individual backstroke events. Lezak’s 100 split in 2008 is still the fastest 100 ever. We had faster guys. Also sprint freestyle is a much more fast twitch than 200 so you usually get sprint free style specialist who are world class at the 50 and 100 but don’t do anything else.

There is for SCY season. LCM is a 50m pool, so the shortest IM event at the olympics is 200.

The only long distance swims are free. If you look at the swimmers, they look more like long distance track bros than jacked alpha chads.

Only freestyle of course. The other ‘styles’ are simply artificial and ridiculous. There are at least 3x too many swimming medals.

titcr. What the fuck is the butterfly? It looks ridiculous, is less efficient and fast than freestyle. Why would anyone ever choose to swim the butterfly when you had to get from point A to point B. At least the backstroke is a relaxing stroke that is a nice change of pace from freestyle.

Not flame butterfly was invented as way to “cheat legally” in breastroke (which is the OG “stroke”). So the fuddie duddies in charge of swimming gave them their own division so they keep swimming slowly

I was a faggy breaststroker who got as far as a senior nationals qualifying time, and I readily admit that Butterfly is the most alpha stroke.

No homo, I have huge respect for the breaststroke guys. That shit is so fucking technical.

I was a quiet nerdy kid who barely missed a futures cut for 1 and 2 Fly. Girls were throwing themselves on me and my massively oversized shoulders.

Breaststroke is all technique. It’s requires a bit of rhythm but it’s easily the most superstudystroke. Also selects for completely different muscles/flexibility, so you can’t be 6’ instead of 6’4” and still be world class. It’s hilarious to think about how much of that our brains processed as kids but didn’t directly call out and articulate.

The # of medals count is so stupid because of swimming. How about we have 2 putting events at different distances, 2 driving events at different distances, 2 sand wedge events at different distances, then 3 different events that are each just 1 hole at different distances.
