Decided to get back into golf this year after only playing 3-5 rounds a year the past ~10 years.

Best ways to increase swing speed?

I've added about 3 or 4 mph to my average driver swing speed just sort of half-assing superspeed the past few months and hitting a couple of times a week. Going to start doing the proper 3x a week program throughout the winter to try to get another 4-5 mph for the spring.

I'm 10 mph faster since this post, ty. And that's with zero gym training and probably just doing superspeed sticks 1x a week and 20-30 max out driver swings 2-3x a week

easy match yesterday. boomer partner halved the front against the boomer he was matched against but other than that we got all the points.

all the guys in my group were older and richer than me and we spent the time in the bar afterwards talking about vacation houses and shit.

only change is a titleist t100 2023 model 5 iron w/ Mitsubishi graphite shaft I bought on ebay because the head on my ping i500 5 iron fell off twice in the last two years and feels weird when I hit it. other than that I have 915 D3 driver, 910 15 degree, TSR 18*, 585h 21*, i500 6-PW, vokey 50*/54*/60* and cameron studio squareback

It seems kind of backwards to have a set of stronger lofted large head players distance irons, with a smaller players cavity iron at the 5 iron. Seeing any gapping issues at 5-6 iron?

It's an experiment because I want to maybe switch to blade type irons but with lighter graphite shafts. right now I have project X 6.5 125g shafts in the i500s and they feel like bludgeons. need to get that smooth flow back.

I don't really like the t100 all that much either tho.

You're like a scratch or something right? I assume you could play anything on the market in terms of ball striking.

It's also kind of interesting with some of the testing and face mapping done by testers (askgolfnut, coolclubs) are really showing that a lot of clubs geared toward lower handicap golfers are actually more "forgiving" around the face in terms of the carry distance drop off being smaller from center, relative to game improvement or even player's distance irons. Like my Ping i230s did better with mishits than the Mizuno JPX 921 Forged I played the season before, both in my own experience and testing I've seen, even though they're supposed to be a more low handicap oriented club...they're 7 or 8 yards shorter due to higher loft and less hot face, but you can hit your number from a greater portion of the face.

I'm a 6 handicap and kind of a sps iron player. I played DCI 962b irons for a very long time and I always liked the small heads for long irons more than with the short ones. the i500 long irons feel like you're hitting the ball with a cricket paddle.

What do you dislike about the T100? I thought the 2025 T150 was quite good when I hit some balls at store with them. A couple of yards longer than my i230 and Cobra King Tours but a bit less forgiving and lower spin.
