HARVARD: Wide range of double-Ivy WASPs to those from upwardly-mobile middle class. And they range from complete douchebags to humble smart people. Usually really good lawyers. There are shitloads of them.

STANFORD: Tend to be quieter smart and more laid back than the Harvard brethren. Surprisingly likeable.

COLUMBIA: Gunner types who tend to be on the heavier side and want to make money. Generally pretty aggressive and solid.

CHICAGO: I would not want to fuck around with these people. Even if some are aspie, they tend to be locked in and will fuck you up. Perhaps narrow-sighted overall but sharp.

NYU: Surprisingly likeable for people in NYC, at least in my view. Bright and solid overall.

MICHIGAN: Chill and more fratty but not total party-fratty. Much more sports-oriented and also on the heavier side. Hodge podge of really great attorneys and surprisingly dumb assholes.

VIRGINIA: Generally more conservative bros who dress better and bro clique better. Really bright but sometimes flaky as attorneys.

PENN: Never met an "impressive" attorney from here. All of them seem middling to solid, generally nondescript.

BERKELEY: If they're focused on shit they care about they'll nail it; if they're not into it, they mail it in and it's a shitshow, so key is figuring out their motivation. Laid back, too.

DUKE: These seem like really likeable people who genuinely enjoyed their law school experience. Less flaky than the UVA bros. Solid lawyers. Tend to brag a little too much about dual degrees.

NORTHWESTERN: Practically as smart as the Chicago grads but not nearly as cutthroat and much more chill, people you can actually hang out with. Really solid except for a handful of the nontrad flakes that NU loves.

CORNELL: I wanted to hate these fuckers but they're generally smart grinders who push out good shit. Must be three years in the tundra.

GEORGETOWN: Literally have never met an impressive person from here. Hoards of people who clung to living in the District or something, I don't know. Aimless nameless randoms.

This is directed to students at top law schools: How would you characterize your peers? What qualities/traits do you find that most students/professors have? Are there virtues/abilities that many seem to lack? How do the law students compare to the business school students at your school (in your experience)? In your unbiased opinion, does the field of law attract the brightest minds? Or is it considered a less desirable fallback option?

I'm an undergraduate and am trying to get a sense of the type of personalities/skills/predilections that law school tends to attract. Before ranting about the inadequacy of generalizations, know that I'm only looking for anecdotes about the type of people (as perceived by contributors of this site) at the top LSchools and will not use them in isolation to inform my decision to apply or not to apply to LS. When asking seemingly knowledgeable/successful people, I've gotten very mixed perspectives as to the type of people that law attracts (ranging roughly from the most intelligent/intellectual in society to self-loathing, introverted wannabe investment bankers). I only ask because I find the law very interesting, and am very fond of debate or intellectually spirited discussion on almost any topic. I also like mathematics and economics; and ultimately will have to make a personal choice between finance and law down the road. Oddly enough, finding reliable information about law students/school is difficult; and I appreciate your insights.

I can't vouch for their impressiveness since I didn't work with any of them, but they didn't have that assholish striver/grinder mentality. The girls I know, despite being total shrews on paper, were actually fun, attractive, and CGWBT-y in person.
