Date: April 21st, 2025 3:41 PM Author: novus homo (gunneratttt) dealing with two downs kids and a low functioning autistic kid is a neverending hell and they'll still outlive you. i do a lot of work in this arena and so many of the parents are miserable. i'm not excusing it but i do have empathy for the guy. his wife left him four years ago with the kids. imagine how shitty things have to be for a mom to abandon her kids?
almost all suicides involve someone reaching a level of despondency and hopelessness that is unfathomable to the rest of us. the guy was in a "no way out" situation unlike many other suicides. an easier way out would have been abandoning his kids, but it doesn't seem like he could live with himself if he did that. in a perverse what this is somewhat more honorable than that.
anyway, i can't bring myself to condemn this guy after seeing so many good parents struggle in situations like this. |

Date: April 21st, 2025 7:27 PM Author: Paralegal Mohammad we should all have empathy ("that's sad") but man there are countless people in worse situations that still manage to play the cards they are dealt while not abandoning their children. there are likely thousands of parents who were dealt a similar hand in bangladesh or syria who work for $2 a day and depend on the largesse of a far poorer, far less compassionate society who still make it work for the sake of their children. his "way out" was to work tirelessly for the sake of these kids who are no doubt devastated by the loss of both parents and who do not deserve this in the slightest, and find the joy in the devastation of his life. the loss of faith in this society has a lot to do with people reaching these levels of despondency imo.
