What was Chief Brody being paid in "Jaws"? Seems like a 180 job

Has a personal secretary and like two or three deputies. There's never been a murder on the island, and the big crimes are local boys karate chopping picket fences.
It's a summer town, so presumably zero crime at all for 8 months. During the summer, you patrol bikini tourists and chill.
Bet he had a sweet NYPD pension, too, and was probably making 20 or 30k from Amity in 1977 and may have even been given the house.
His fatal flaw was not delegating the shark stuff immediately. Thats not his jurisdiction, which probably ends at the water's edge. That's life guard, coast guard, state police problem.

At one point, the movie shows a bunch of cops geared up with rifles in a boat, and of course there are more in choppers. Those arent fucking Amity PD, so presumably the state police came out in force.
