What I do know is that I just can't handle having every single thing I've done grealty mischaracterized and being hated by so many people for things that I either didn't do or were outside of my control, and continuously being exposed to these things is unhealthy. I can handle being defamed by Leiter or having people spread lies about me to T14 law school deans, but I can't handle having that going on the same week that people on this community are doing the same thing.
I know this makes me look weak, but unfortunately I'm not a great communicator and even I know that nothing I say is going to change anyone's minds at this point.

2) It's not "my" anti-outing policy, it's rachmiel's, and it's been very consistently enforced. Again, I don't see how anyone is playing favorites. If you self-outed, it doesn't get deleted, no matter who you are. If you outed someone else, it doesn't get deleted, no matter who you are. If you are not self-outed and did not out someone else, it gets deleted. It's a very simple and straightforward policy that is very easy to enforce, and the people who complain about their names not being removed because of "bias" are people who are self-outed (e.g. Blue Smoke and leaky juice box) or who outed other people (e.g. Madame Cunt and LoreleiLee) -- kind of ironic since they're the ones looking for favoritism by asking for exceptions to the longstanding rule. |

I think a premise of the board is that anonymity is necessary to bring forth critical information about firms, schools, legal practice, etc. That's probably true. I suggest reworking the whole project as a managed information flow. You could (1) maintain your salary and summer associate and other such sites, and allow people to submit anonymous data. That's kind of old-school and counter to the way internet data collection/presentation is going. Also/or (2) focus your efforts on a wiki, with a group of serious editors. Option 2 allows you to collect information in a more free-form manner, with allowance for discussion and debate, but with much more constraint than this setup.
The legal profession needs information exchange, but a message board isn't the only way to do it. |
