they are basically taking any old buildings and just demolishing them and putting nice high rise buildings or proper smaller ones for restos/businesses
they must have 180 building regulations, part of the reason a place like taiwan or japan looks like shit is causee the building codes make it difficult to redevelop shit
ditto in eastern euro and ex-USSR shitholes like uzbekistan u have these super nice apts in old commie blocks with hideous insanely shit common areas and eleavtors

oh thats good cause i feel like saigon isnt changing enough liek it took them 15 years to build a 19km metro line, china wld do that shit in 2-3 and have 10 others under construction
and district 1 and stuff is mostly the same, sidewalks are still shit, motorbikes still drive like retards
most of the new development is in the outskirts, it will become like jakarta a huge furking traffic filled mess with no real center

Sure, but QOL and wealth are very different measures.
When adjusting for local cost differences, poor economies have to be adjusted upwards because something like a quarter of the world survives on less (in dollars) than the minimum subsistence income for the US. You literally could not buy enough calories to survive on a rural Indian or eastern Russian income. Therefor any comparison on a COL or QOL level has to close the gap between wealthy and poor countries.
However, wealth is different. A 25th percentile Chinese couldn’t come to the US and have any purchasing power, whereas a 25th percentile American could go to China and have significantly more purchasing ability than the local 25th percentile Chinese
