Democrats tried to pass a national anti-gerrymandering bill that was drafted non-partisan. All Republicans had to do was say yes. They didn’t.
Any sane person can’t expect democrats to let republicans aggressively gerrymander red states whenever they can but have democrats not retaliate.

Republicans could have won this if they hadn't pissed off so many federal workers and the local economies that rely on them.

Grok on the chances the VA SCt overturns it:
The Virginia Supreme Court is unlikely to overturn the referendum results. Here’s why:The court has already ruled twice (in February and March 2026) to let the referendum proceed to voters, even after lower courts tried to block it on procedural grounds. It emphasized that voters should have their say and that any deeper legal issues could be addressed later.

Legal observers and reporting (pre-election) described it as “unlikely” that the court would strike down a voter-approved constitutional amendment after allowing the vote. Overturning the expressed will of the voters would be an extraordinary step, especially for a court that prioritizes precedent and has shown reluctance to intervene in this exact matter.

Remaining challenges (mainly to the legislative process used to put the amendment on the ballot, such as the use of a special session) are still pending. Oral arguments were scheduled for April 27, 2026, but the court’s prior actions signal deference to the electoral outcome rather than invalidating it on technicalities.

In short, the court’s track record in this specific case, combined with its institutional preference for precedent and restraint in political disputes, points strongly against overturning the results.

so basically Republicans started a mid-decade gerrymandering war on the off chance Trump could hold the house despite being historically unpopular and the result is Dems netting more seats through gerrymandering?
at least the GOP is consistent. Consistent in failing at everything they try.
