If, according to the twitter link, independents have swung from Trump +14 to Biden +2 in just a month, but overall polling shows Biden dropping from 52% to 49% and Trump gaining a point and tying with him, then what can one say.
Did notice that April showed the same Biden 52% to Trump 48%. |

However, it's likely he'll not even get the opportunity because... -Trump will be imprisoned in July. There is no reason to believe that the judge will not do this except for blind optimism from Conservatives. This will, in turn, cause him to continue to bleed support from independents, a trend that has already begun. Then we will get to election night where there will be... -Rampant mail-in voting. Democrats will run a similar playbook to 2020 with ballot harvesting. While it won't be as effective as it was when everyone was locked down in 2020, it will still outpace Republican attempts to get out the vote. Conservatives had a chance to respond to this in the past four years by starting a ballot harvesting initiative of their own, but chose to do nothing instead. Too bad, so sad.
All the while, Conservatives will soothe themselves with inaccurate polling and the bleating of charlatans like Nate Silver while Biden continues to pull ahead. I doubt many of them will realize how far behind they actually were until election day. |

Apply the same gap in polling prediction and actual election results, even if it was a win, to 2024 polling and what does that give you?
You can believe what you want to believe, and it would be true most people are nervous to the point that no one really knows what will happen in November. Like I pointed out above, the same Marist polls showing a big swing among independents from Trump to Biden also shows Trump gaining on Biden to a tie and Biden declining in support. Strongly contradictory messages in the same poll.
The WSJ article on PA cites the same Marist polls, which has Trump 47% to 45% for Biden. And cites various reasons including sharp fall in Biden support in the Philadelphia suburbs, and a big fall in Biden support among blacks.
Make what you want of it. But remember, it's Marist! |
