Newfoundland is pretty isolated and has a separate history as an independent British Dominion, so it can be its own state. The population is small but still around the size of Wyoming. And Yukon, Northern Territory and Nunavut can be territories or maybe just combine into Alaska.
So we'd have 8 new states: BC Alberta Saskatchewan Manitoba Ontario Quebec Maritimes Newfoundland
and a bigger Alaska containing all the rest.
If you wanted fewer states, you could combine Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba into one state and then you'd have 6 states. |
