Other times you have cases where a defendant is some developmentally disabled/retarded or schizophrenic guy but otherwise harmless and is being punished way too harshly for having sex with an underage girl (and the girl is usually aa homeless/troubled runaway who's been in and out of foster homes) he met on the streets (http://www.autoadmit.com/thread.php?thread_id=5715613&forum_id=2#48877341) |

A couple years later, the guy gets busted by the feds in a file sharing CP sting -- totally independent of the aforementioned. Police execute a search warrant and find all sorts of shit on his computer including pics with the two preteen girls from the cold case. Yikes. Obviously, they brought the cold case to back to life and he was fucked. |

I do tons of these chomo appeals. 95% of my chomo involve family members -- usually a stepdotter / niece, and plenty of times a biological dotter. Generally the perps are perfectly seemingly normal people and nobody suspected anything for years. Your sampling of 288 cases you mention doesn't jive my general docket of these cases, FWIW.
In any event, these cases are totally fucked up but I'm totally desensitized to them by now. |

Date: April 24th, 2025 2:16 PM Author: luke screenwatcher (luis) the family member ones you describe are the most common ones here too. btw, when i said the facts are disturbing i was thinking in particular about a case where a dad raped and eventually impregnated his teen daughter. but i've also gotten the late 20s-30 year old guys with underage gfs or who have a one night stand with some 14 year old runaway/homeless girls.
one thing that is different at the trial level is we also have to hear the victims testifying about how they've been abused and suffered in court, how fucked up their lives have been since etc. they often show up to give a long statement at sentencing even when there isn't a trial |

My guess is most of these types of cases plea out since the DAs aren't going for the jugular, and I never see the appeals. The cases that go to trial are probably the most severe ones where there are dozens of counts and 100-400 years to life sentencing.
