At an event in Manhattan on Monday, Mrs. Clinton told The New Yorker’s editor, David Remnick, that Mr. Biden had made a “terrible mistake for himself, his legacy and for the country” in trying to run again at age 81.

If Mr. Biden had decided to “pass the torch” and the Democratic Party had held a competitive presidential primary, Mrs. Clinton told Mr. Remnick, “whoever emerged from that contest — whether it was the vice president, or a governor, or a senator or anybody else — would have beaten Donald Trump.”

you almost have to admire her stubborn insanity about what elections should have, or would have, resulted in. in reality she was a shitty candidate. she won two races in her life but the spots were given to her by the Dem machine.

the Dems fell into the habit of choosing their candidate and pretending that the Dem voters chose them.

and the Dems are as competent at choosing their candidates as they are at everything else.

Biden 2024 wasn’t “the Dems” it was five boomer narcissist assholes around Biden who used a senile old man as their sock puppet because they felt entitled to remain powerful for as long as possible. The other fascinating hypo is how Oct 7th plays out if he’s a lame duck and feels no pressure of the re-elect to constrain his pushback. I don’t know that it goes that differently but I do expect Biden might’ve at least talked a little more shit and I know it would have basically decided the Dem nom.
