A girl I know is getting married soon. As a fellow of no delicacy, I confessed to her that I would give my life to keep a life she loves beside her.

Questions?

Her and her fiance are at home right now, and she's delivering this little gem of a quote to him in that breathy post-coital huff all girls have. Afterwhich, he laughs heartily at your expense and smacks her on the ass to show his posession.

EDIT: Wait, I get the quote now. I'm dumb.

Don't believe so. It's been entrusted to her bosom. Anyway, Darnay's a gentleman of delicacy and isn't getting any premarital tail. You must be thinking of the other Evremonde. Darnay was in the garden the other day, playing with the doctor's PTSD. That's about as sadistic as he gets.

I'm the one living the dissipated life.

No, I really really hate Dickens. The way his works were published make them unnecessarily long, bordering on the unreadable. I stopped after Oliver Twist and Great Expectations.

Only for illiterates with ADD. Dickens requires careful attention, I'll give you that, but you've cut yourself off from one of the best writers in the English language. Anyway, I think serialization made the novels more interesting. A Tale of Two Cities is one of his shorter works and, in my opinion, one of his best.

You have to remember that Dickens intended for a chapter to last a month or so. That's why you need the time to go over it slowly.

Incidentally, the idea that Dickens was paid by the word is a myth.

I actually like his English. Oscar Wilde writes flowery, but Dickens builds intricate sentences that are just a joy to mull over. It takes some leisure time, though, which I don't think agrees with the American temperament.

edit: we were a basketball game today and we were hanging out with this players girlfriend. they have a kid and the girl works at campus daycare and takes care of her a lot. i saw her interacting with the one year old the whole time and then after while waiting for the player for an hour. shit i want that broad to be the mother of my kids

The best way to get revenge on an ex is to never call them, never talk to them and when you finally do run into them or they call you, you make it clear that life's been great since they've been gone, you rarely think about them, and don't miss them at all. It's a mindfuck let me tell you.

Jesus Christ man, pull yourself together. You will now immediately redeem your self esteem in the name of all that's good and manly.

Direct thyself to this website, http://www.eros.com , where you will henceforth find the most stunning courtesan you can. You will procure her services for an evening, take her out to a bar where your ex is, pretend to get embarassed when you run into her on a "date", leave and take your whore back to your place where you make a fun home video to show your ex one day.
