How old is too old for NYC?
And how much is there to do that isn't focused on drinking ?

LA/CA weather and nature is second to none. Depends on how active you are, really, and how much cash you can burn.
NYC is a nice visit, but living there full-time seems fucking atrocious.
I'd choose London over NYC if you have cash. I just got back from Greece, heading on a surf trip to Morocco after Christmas. Back to US in Feb, then Berlin for work then back to London. Cannes / French Riviera in May.
Unless you're a finance bro stuck on the golden handcuffed concrete island, why choose NYC?

If i were single I'd probably travel on more surf trips, but life would look pretty similar. I love my house in London and have a 180 routine with this dude - https://imgur.com/a/JZCWoGy - I'm in London probably 2/3 of the year. Travelling is 1000% easier here than in the US. It's not a huge trip to go to Amsterdam or Paris or Belgium, Morocco or Greece. Instead of going to the jersey shore for the weekend, I can fly 2 hrs to Portugal, or take the ferry to Spain and bring my hound.
I love a lot about the US, but living back home full time doesn't really seem healthy for most people and not for me. My quality of life is so much better outside of the US. Work/life balance etc. just can't be replicated back in the toxic cesspit.
Our closest friends here just had their first babby - wife walked over to their house this afternoon and made a big dinner for everyone. After I finished up work, I walked over with the hound and we had a wonderful dinner together. After we ate I had my goddaughter on my chest telling her all the ways i was going to spoil her over the years while her mother got a few minutes for herself. Our community here is surprisingly strong and I didnt expect it to be when we first moved. I did the dishes for them and then wife and I hightailed it to the pub for a nice pint before we walked back home together.
I fly back to see my father and fam 2-4 times a year (i try for at least 3) so I'm not totally removed from the homeland. I'm so glad when I land in the US and so fucking happy when I fly back and hear the captain say we're beginning our descent back into London.
Just because you dont live in the country full time anymore doesnt mean can't visit for weeks at a time. My father says he sees me more than he used to when we lived in the same state. And when I am there, we spend actual quality time together. It's just different.

cannot imagine living in "Westchester".
either live in the middle of nyc or live as far as possible away
"oh we have all the benefits of driving 20 min, to get on a train, to travel 30 min, to get to midtown manhattan, to hail a cab to get to the event... but we ALSO get to pay triple for suburban real estate and have jews and bankers and dorks for neighbors! Best of everything!"

i get the sense you dont want a wife or kids. sure, go ahead. but you arent successful in those cities without 10m net worth. and youll probably need to keep working to fit in and make rent or afford a decent lifestyle after 55% taxation rate
do you want a wife and kids? if so, go to the south. dallas or atlanta or something. you can be a big fish there with a few million and solid income

nice house in a decent neighborhood - 3 - 5 million dollars (30k/year property taxes + 20k/year for misc. housing expenses)
nice cars for wife and self - 200k
private school for kids - 100k/year
Food - 1500/month/person if eating out regularly
travel - 50k/year
assuming 5% a year return on 10 million dollars - that 500k is getting used up awfully quick living in LA
