Last night went to a bar i go to quite a bit with a couple friends to watch the OSU/UT game, all of the bar tenders know me by name.
They are kinda old school, and when you put your credit card down, they keep it. Seems like they put it into a little box behind the bar with 3x5 notecards with letters on them when they take a card. Would be impossible for someone else to get the card without literally going behind the 30 foot bar.
Was there about three hours. When I went to close out, the bartender seemed to go "look" for my card, and came back like "sorry man we don't have your card. give me your phone number I'm sure we will find it" I was pissed.
Went home and called credit card company to cancel card. Apparently someone had opened up a phone-based phone "pay" account with my card (like Apple Pay) on some phone, that night. Canceled the card - getting a new one in "four to eight business days"
2am bartender texted me that they "found" my credit card.
100% these bartenders handed off my card to someone to try to add some Apple Pay account. I saw another guy when I was at the bar who had his card lost by them as well. This sucks I like that place.
