Looks like the same shit but 4 wood is novel to people who can't hit 3W

I haven't played in a long time but given what looks to be the state of modern golf it seems insane that most guys aren't carrying a 4, 7 and 9 wood or something close, it is just going to be better for you

Bro there are MANY guys in WRX forum who don't carry a single iron (all woods/hybrids)

Not looking forward to being at that stage in life

if I were to get back in and buy new clubs I would be strongly tempted to replace every iron below a 6, it is not as though I am going to be drawing a well struck 4 iron into any greens ever

I've literally never swung an iron lower than 6i other than a utility 2i

I don't see the point unless you drive 275+ and hit PW 150

The top of my bag is currently D, 3w, 2i, 4h, 5h, 6i etc

And I probably don't need more than 2 of the 2i/3w/4h/5h if I'm being totally honest with myself. I'd probably get more utility out of a 2nd putter (long vs short putts)

basically correct although I still prefer woods over hybrids and could never hit a 2i well

Hybrids are just more useful, can hit out of rough, easy to punch/pitch

Woods are easier to launch from a good lie and get raw distance, but have worse dispersion

Once you tee off you shouldn't care about distance anymore (just dispersion) IMHO

I was an early adopter of the 7w and I loved how it cut through the rough, I think that concentrated mass can make a lot of difference
