I've literally never swung an iron lower than 6i other than a utility 2i
I don't see the point unless you drive 275+ and hit PW 150
The top of my bag is currently D, 3w, 2i, 4h, 5h, 6i etc
And I probably don't need more than 2 of the 2i/3w/4h/5h if I'm being totally honest with myself. I'd probably get more utility out of a 2nd putter (long vs short putts)

Hybrids are just more useful, can hit out of rough, easy to punch/pitch
Woods are easier to launch from a good lie and get raw distance, but have worse dispersion
Once you tee off you shouldn't care about distance anymore (just dispersion) IMHO
