I remember riding in the backseat of a Buick that had not only ashtrays in the handle of each door but individual mini cigarette lighters, a sign of high class. -"Smoking or non." This was the immediate question from every hostess (trigger alert!) in every restaurant after asking how many in your party. And the agonizing choice among some people some times if non-smoking was full, whether to suffer in smoking if you were really sensitive to smoke but really hungry. Or if you got seated too close to the "smoking" section, because it's not like it was a wall or separate room. -In art class, you'd make an ashtray out of modeling clay like it was nbd. And if your parents didn't smoke, you knew an aunt or uncle who did and could give to them. -Joe Camel was a big deal. Marlboro Man was a big deal. Magazines had this full-page ads that looked like perfume or watch ads today. -Every cool movie character smoked. James Bond, Julia Roberts, the Muppets, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, everyone. All this is crazy foreign and basically taboo today. |

Only a small percentage of fats can't do a thing about it for the long-term. But even if your temporary situation makes regular exercise difficult - billing 300-hour months, or being a mom of infants/toddlers - that's still no excuse to stay fat or to let the fatness spiral out of control. |
