like yeah there will be some "edgy" kids rebelling here and there but if most kids live in fear of something they said when they were 13 ruining their career, everyone who gets any power will be a line-tower and the outcasts will be relegated to posting as pumos or under their anime avatars on some incel forum. that doesn't really help us... |

Many young people find solidarity with those at the bottom (and woke politics) because those groups have been the only ones that have attacked the system for decades. Most young people face declining prospects relative to prior generations and even the successful among them struggle to find any socio-economic stability. There's a big gap between where they expected to be (American Dream) and where they are (indebted and depressed serf). And from the system and their elders they only hear a repetition of the "boot-straps/America is great". We have a very unhappy and depressed youth. As long as that is the case, radical politics will be more popular than usual. The decline of universities will not end this trend. |

Last weekend I logged in to search for something on slack, and a co-worker who is ultra sjw / woke who I'm kinda friends with was signed in and his slack profile changed from the day before to name as "John Doe (he / him)" - this person is weak, very low testosterone etc. , and I got to thinking you know - I think he's so weak that in his own mind this really is some courageous action that he's standing up for (rather than clearly virtue signaling that he belongs to a moral tribe and decreasing, not increasing clarity in language around pronoun usage), and that he's confusing his own personal struggle of such an action with some larger societal struggle on this issue. The fact that he's so weak and it probably took a lot of anxious deliberation on whether or not to do it is getting confused w/ notions of struggle and bravery
