Actually, I really like when the kid is smart because then it's super fun to see how much the brain of a kid can absorb in such a short period of time. But the majority of my students are really far behind...I had a senior in HS who didn't know the definition of a noun. So, it's frustrating that the NYC public school education has failed so many. It makes me upset and turned me off from the entire teaching profession.
