I'm not sure you're right that she's terribly smart, but she's smart enough to know the gig is a shit job. You have to be a complete narcisisst to want to be president and she's never done the Hillary thing where she's taken a stepping stone position to launch herself to a later run - presumably because she has no desire to be the lead politician.
2. People on the phone like her better than Trump. I'm sure if you asked them if they'd vote for The Rock or Julia Roberts over Trump, they'd poll at like 60%. But that doesn't mean in a real campaign people are just going to let a non-politician whose never really had a real job in the past 25 years waltz into the white house. Maybe they would - but you're taking a real leap of faith there (and possibly destroying any remaining credibility the Dems have left). |
