Wife quit her job with no notice

Date: June 28th, 2019 12:14 PM Author: Khaki multi-billionaire My wife had a meeting with her boss and the program head to discuss her contract. She tells the top guy that her boss (an incompetent black woman) is running a disorganized and chaotic program that is so poorly run and breaking so many rules that it is putting her at an unacceptable risk to her medical license and she won’t sign a new contract. She also complains that the black woman is trying to change the terms of their agreement in terms of accounting for her work hours and the number of patients she has to see. The black woman repeatedly chimps out and acts like an angry black woman who is being told that her benefits were being cut off. In a pause in the conversation, the top guy says “It looks like this relationship is over and you have made up you are going to leave.” Today is her last day.
So now my wife is down to working maybe 4-5 hours from home a week. She has already turned down multiple job offers because they are giving her too few hours or they want her to work in person. So now she is down to working from home 4-5 hours a week along with a nascent private practice which has been a net money-loser so far. Also, my kid starts daycare next week, so she will basically be home all day with nothing to do. She still wants to get an au pair as well for when our baby arrives in October. So I guess the situation going forward will be her being basically a SAHM, but with an au pair and day care expenses.

Wife staying home with 3-week-old while I take 4-year-old to county fair all day as the big outing. Last couple of weekends I've taken both kids to dinner and playground while wife takes a nap - I wish we could go together but otherwise everyone mostly seems happy with this. This will be life for a bit with 2 kids who are 4.5 years apart. |

We waited til 2 months with 1st kid (after 1st set of shots) and 1 month with 2nd and my mom yelled at me so much each time. 1-2 weeks makes ME super nervous though.
Hope you guys are surviving. Honestly I thought I went from 1 to 1.5 kids. 2nd one is ridiculously easy and I’m 10x happier. |

Can never be wearing too many clothes. No socks = kid dies, apparently. Oh, wearing socks? Well must put on slippers, too. Wearing slippers? Must close windows or turn off a/c. Etc. Always something to fuss with.
Thanks - things are going pretty well. Baby has only been waking up once/night all week. Stark contrast to the prior week when she was nocturnal. Could/will all change, though, I'm sure! People said it's 10x the work but so far it hasn't been too bad. Going from 0-1 kids was life-changing; this feels much more incremental.

She will worship her older sister. My son kept saying for the first few months “why is she only sleeping or crying?” Now they actually started playing and he brings her toys and kisses her. I’m sure they’ll fight too but the joy is exponential to see your children together and both you and your wife are going to find it so worthwhile.
