The scary thing about virusbadmos is that this is all about pride to them

emotionally, they can't deal with the world's uncertainty, randomness, whatever. the religion analogy is trite but accurate. at the risk of doffing my fedora, the MODELS are god, epidemiologists are the priests, and fauci is the pope. anyone who questions the religion must be stamped out because they are either evil, irrational, or stupid. the religion will keep us safe. the religion will tell us what we must do. how do we know the religion is true? what do you mean, didn't you see all those people die until the priests told us the correct rituals to prevent the models from being angry with us.

i'm a virusbadmo who doesn't necessarily believe a total shutdown is the answer.
i certainly distrust the media (hate even) and am a ride-or-die trumpmo.

the two sides concretized and threw rocks at strawmen quickly.
the virus IS bad, far more communicable than the flu and insidious and appears to do far more damage, not to mention lacks a vaccine
A total lockdown was probably a reasonable position in early march, when it was hard to differentiate the US and Italy
Moving with fluid data is hard institutionally, but even as a badmo, it has become apparent that -- absent hospital overload -- the best path for olds is to be surrounded by youngs who are gaining some immunity by processing the virus.
Its hard to ask parents to experiment with their kid, but schools and colleges are probably the best places to advance herd immunity. All the lockdown efforts should be put into facilitating people who, for whatever reasons, want to opt out. Maybe they have an old at home, maybe they are still fighting cancer, whatever. Let those kids be online and those jobs wfh

so have the courage of your convictions and specify the terror you predict: you are arguing that you are *rightfully* terrified of the economic pain the march shutdown will cause. (and keep in mind, Im agreeing with you that by april things should have been opened).
So what, exactly, will four weeks of this shutdown cause, such that it will cascade down three generations?
Simply saying BAD THINGS is peak hysteria

shutdown resulted in 22 million unemployed so far, its a question of how long and to what extent will it last even after the economy opens. no one knows what the economic effects of shutting down an economy as complex as ours with the enormous amount of debt the private and public sectors both have is, its never been tried before. this is a total unknown. but it was an unknown before the shutdown even occurred, an unknown none of the virus hysteria-mos even gave a glance to.
second is the question of the 8 trillion printed, this will end up in the form of inflation of goods and services, if you think housing, education, health care are expensive now, wait until the effects are felt, this time probably in the form of basic goods inflation i.e. $50 loaf of bread, followed by massive societal unrest. no idea on the time frame, it may be many years down the road or it could be soon, but it is coming.
but congrats on your one month off and your virus hysteria

fucked up quoting on my phone.
But I particularly like
1. the fifty dollar bread
2. the part about how this price point will happen, you know, sometime, and when it does it will be because we shut down March 2020

nobody would use an RNA virus as a weapon. they mutate too fast and there's no way to ensure that your own people won't eventually contract it. mutation rate also makes it impossible to ensure that it actually behaves the way you want it to behave. so you spend all that time designing it, and within a few infection cycles few of your designed features are left.
and what sort of a retard would make a bioweapon with a virus with a 0.02% death rate among the military-age population?
also the genome is published and shows no sign of bioengineering
and the research lab published tons of papers on their experiments with this coronavirus. that would be retarded to do if it were a bioweapons lab.

(chinaman)
it's not that a "weapon" got out, but that some sort of research strain did.
that being said i'm not a virologist and am retarded.

LOL. You say that as though the fraudvirusmo contingent is somehow operating from a place of less pride.
Most fraudvirusmos don't even want to take basic precautions like wearing masks.

LJL at trying to legally force people to wear fucking masks in public.
JFC. Is this America or North fucking Korea?
I’m a healthy 40 y/o with no pre-existing conditions. If you can’t handle encountering healthy people without masks, then sequester yourself. Don’t force your hysterical, draconian measures on everyone else.
