Date: October 26th, 2022 12:24 AM Author: Contagious Ape If you're not familiar with this guy, he was always a weird fit: unprestigious academic background, teaches in like corpus christi or some shit, no one thinks he's a brilliant or particularly ideologically principled guy (like say volokh), but is young and hacky as shit and co-authors with like randy barnett and similar. Type of dude who will fly out to ole miss LS and give the same conlaw seminar 4x from a 10 a.m. breakfast session with donors to a 6:30 p.m. dinner hobnob with the local bar, then fly out.

The guy falls into the unbecoming middle ground between someone like a Tom Goldstein -- the American U. grad who founded SCOTUSblog because he loved reading scotus cases, and got important organically due to the quality work product produced by his labor of love -- and an actual real PUGhighest-HLSmagna professor who's devout catholic or aspie/immigrant libertarian (depending on the precise conservative lawprof shtick being adopted).
I mean good for him for hustling, but he's one of the presenters I've heard from a handful of times who I'm least convinced will say something unique, interesting, or incisive when I sit down to hear him talk. Also that hair must be disgusting in south texas heat and humidity. |
