Brothers, 3L here, about to graduate from a T14, pretty crappy grades, trying to figure out a way to get some sort of jerb. I'm fine with getting some typical XO killself, etc. insults, but if some of you brehs have some helpful advice that would be pretty 180. Don't want to out myself, interest is corporate, took corporate/transactional classes, don't need biglaw which is already not an option anyway, but just trying to get even small firms to look at my resume

"it probably will be funnier than what ur gonna go through"
Sad, but true.
There's nothing redeeming about the ongoing monotony of waking up every morning to no job and no responses in your inbox.

Kroger vet here,
Flame.
They start you off as a bagger/cart getter.
THEN you work your way up to being a cashier then a possible Asst. Manager.

Since you said your family has some $$$$$$$ I'd suggest just waiting it out since you are cumming from a T14
It's truly amazing that now people are generation cannot even get ANY legal job cumming out of a T14, and yet Boomers could get any job they wanted cumming out of ANY law school

It's funny because when I was 19-21 I never understood how all these doods in that generation managed to do so well for themselves when they were seemingly clueless.
Wasn't till I hit 25-26 that I realize how badly they raped are generation. I hate them all.
I had to pay a $170 transfer fee today for the used car I bought because the pensioner who owned it got special discounts--I mentioned to the admin lady that my generation will never sniff any of those benefits once we reach that age and she laughed and said " I don't think so either."

Eh, I was lucky in that they paid my tuition and expenses in law school. They're not thrilled that I didn't perform that great academically, a blow softened by the fact that I am graduating from a top 10 school (parents are sometimes really easily impressed by stupid metrics like rankings), and that I haven't been able to find a job, but at this point, we've reached an understanding where until I find a job, I'll live rent-free with them and provide me with food and the basics while I search for a job. They had actually been fine with providing the basics plus things like money for entertainment here and there, nights out etc but as a K-JD and being 25 and having lived off my parents my whole life, I felt bad and couldn't accept that offer. I'm not obsessed with biglaw, never was, just saw it as a means to an end, I would rather work at a 10 person firm that does work that I find interesting (or at least, as interesting as you can find in the dry world of law) where I'll get good training/mentoring and eke out a middle-class existence

I was a political science major, realized close to graduation that I thought political science was boring and useless, and that I should have majored in finance/economics and wanted to work in business, but because it was too late for that and it seemed unlikely I would be able to find entry level work for two years that would be solid enough experience to get into a good MBA program in a few years, I decided to pursue my secondary interest in law, which I'd had since the latter years of high school, and then go into corporate law so that I could (naively as I now know) pursue my interest in business and law. No lawyers in my family, all I knew of law school really was just anecdotal information here and there from friends/parents friends, reading the book "1L" etc. I also stupidly wanted to get the JD, finish, and start my career and making money as fast as I could and it was only a year or two into law school that I realized there was no rush, I'm young, and should have enjoyed my 20s a bit more. I knew that the legal job market wasn't great but I thought it would pick up a bit because I figured, I'm class of 2013 I should be okay (had no idea about OCI and all that really). The only reason I even chose to go to a T14 school was because everything I saw about job prospects seemed to relate to this going to a T14 school thing and so after I scored quite high on the LSAT, I got into much of the lower half of the T14, waitlisted at places like CCN and flash forward three years later, here I am today, unemployed like so many of my friends and other law students, T14 and non-T14 alike, but truly thankful that I am not in the debt-situation that many of my friends and peers are in. What about you? Are you currently working as an attorney or are you in law school as well

Damn man. Yeah i don't understand why people go straight into professional school rather than just enjoy life for a few years.
Nah man I am in med school--it's pretty shitty too but job prospects are less grim, thankfully.
I once considered law though back in the day...

what the fuck were you doing?
where did you volunteer during law school? did you apply to public defenders and regional conflict offices? did you go weekly alumni networking events and talk to alumni or just sit in the corner drinking beers with your "friends?"
are you a chink? i'm trying to see how you legitimately can't find a legal job. everyone moron i know is employed.

Did the whole networking grind, have applied to all those places or more, went to every alumni networking event my school had to offer and even my undergrad had to offer, have been told numerous times that I interview well. My grades are meh but not THAT meh. Just been unlucky I guess. And no, not asian, white male, probably a 7-8 objectively, 5'10, thin, so no abnormal physical defects holding me back either. A good 30+% of my year still has nothing at graduation so I'm not sure how every moron you know is employed

tell me about your network grind? what connections have you made? how many lunches have you invited attorneys out to?

Honestly, might just be my grades. 3.0 from a T14. The impression I've gotten is that many places assume T14s grade inflate (and yes, they do relative to most law schools) and so to them, my 3.0 in their eyes means I've "failed" law school. That's been the impression I think from many law firms, government is just not really hiring right now and the places that are, I don't have the grades for, as for public interest, you'd be surprised, because my resume doesn't really demonstrate much in the way of public interest, even the version of my resume that's aimed at those jobs, most public interest/volunteer places don't really give me the time of day either

akerman is hiring hard. i just got a text from a partner i know real well. she says consumer finance and comm lit.
gt/hk are pretty hard in miami unless you're top 20% t10 or lr editor fsu/uf/um.
i would look at mid-range firms like gunster or broad & cassell or carlton fields.

I would crib all this guys shit
http://startuplawyer.com/
then go though Tech Crunch or Hacker News and look for startups w/ < 10 or so people that you can make your self useful for
if you're at a T14 school, there are probably some CS dudes in the undergrad trying to start something, ask around, see if whatever they are trying to start sounds promising to you/ worth your time, see if you can brainstorm ways to add value
there is probably a technology transfer office at your school, see if anything going on there seems promising to you
there is probably professors in the business school who teach an entrapreunership class, see if he has any students in who are starting something that will need legal help
