I grew up around a lot of em. And I find em all repulsive. Some of the worst ones are just people whose parents bought em a multi million dollar home and they still have to work like a low 6 figure lunch pail kind of job but they go home to a mega mansion. Those people are just ghastly to me and it's really the arrogance and the attitude... I have never met one who didn't fundamentally deep down feel like they earned it and deserve to have it all which makes me puke.
But yeah of all the nepos I know, RSF is by far the richest and the most hedonistic. And he poasts about it all the time which annoys me. If I didn't see it on the main page every day I would never think about him again. |

But not everyone is going to become Kennedy, Plato, or Lavoisier, and failure to live an exceptional life is not itself wrongdoing. There is a large space between heroic public service and moral failure.
Maybe his life is not the highest form of human flourishing. That still does not explain why it is shameful, or why receiving an inheritance creates a specific obligation to dedicate one’s life to public achievement. |

What makes him unique is he got a massive bag when he was really young, halting any possibility of personal growth. We don't know what type of person he would be if he had to work in law just to survive and couldn't afford to be on a permanent vacation. My hypothesis is that he would be a lot kinder, more humble person if he wasn't gifted the bag so soon in life. Most people who are forced to go to work every day develop some semblance of humility. When you skip that phase entirely and go straight to the massive reward endgame you bypass any hope of turning out like a normal person.
As I've commented on earlier ITT, it also fucks with my sense of cosmological justice when a low IQ retard makes off with that much money. To be clear, I also am completely against Charles III, Rama X, and the Emperor of Japan. I think inbred retards with the legal right to be rich forever is an inherently bad thing. (2) On a personal level, it's not like the guy has self-destructive behaviors; he doesn't do drugs or drink uncontrollably (had to be a little more qualified with that one) or even spend at a level that's unsustainable. Dude's not hunter biden. Probably the 'worst' thing about how he's spending his life is not getting married or having kids. While I do think a lot of wealthy fathers would be disappointed in kids like RSF, that speaks more poorly of those dads than it does of RSF.
(3) On a societal level, the world was a *better* place back when we had a robust leisure class. Read pre-WWI social history, or just pick up a p.g. wodehouse book. This is a genuinely persuasive factor to me; if the RSF lifestyle were some new thing that corresponded with every other part of society going to shit I'd probably be on the anti-RSF train. But it's the opposite: the world is going to shit precisely because of unbearable entitled (but hardworking) strivers who now feel in their bones that they EARNED their place in the world (they didn't). |
