my kid will go into elementary school and learn what racism is...he'll then say he's 'not racist' which according to the educators...is a mask for racism. He'll then be sucked into a vortex of CRT teaching until he leaves education. What a nightmare.
2 options - homeschool or leave the US (the latter leaving hardly any options as every country is now on-board).

California is finalizing its new ethnic studies curriculum. It's everything a xoxo'er would expect.
The current draft suggests that Jews and Irish-Americans redefined themselves to gain white privilege. Pushback ensued -- not to the notion of indoctrinating all high schoolers that whites are evil. Rather, to the notion that Irish and Jews weren't also oppressed people. So major revisions were made, especially as to Jewish-American history, and Jewish groups now enthusiastically support the plan.
That leaves gentile whites holding the bag of evil privilege. And it will be taught in a mandatory year-long ethnic studies class in every California public high school.

On the prior version claiming that the Irish and Jews were now privileged whites:
It attaches moral opprobrium to success by instructing teachers and students that the Jews and Irish in America have secured white “racial privilege.”

This guy partially gets it and is partially part of the problem:
Ethnic studies program still comes up short | California Focus
By THOMAS ELIAS |
December 29, 2020 at 2:22 a.m.
With just two months before the legal deadline for the state Board of Education to decide on a new ethnic studies curriculum for all California public schools, new concepts have been introduced into the latest proposal and new people added to those who might be studied. Still, old prejudices figure to be reinforced.
Among the new individuals to be studied for sure, if this program is adopted, are some that few would object to: Former state Supreme Court Justice Cruz Reynoso, onetime Hawaii Congresswoman Patsy Mink, American Indian Movement founder Madonna Thunder Hawk, ex-President Barack Obama and the late former Brooklyn Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, the first-ever serious Black presidential candidate. Among the new peoples: Irish- and Jewish-Americans, via new units on anti-Semitism and Sephardic (Middle Eastern) Jewry.
Things get more controversial with other persons on the suggested list teachers would have the option of adding: Onetime Black Panther leader Bobby Seale, self-proclaimed “lifetime Communist” Angela Davis, convicted murderer Mumia Abu-Jamal, the vocally anti-Semitic Arab-American leader Linda Sarsour and Emiliano Zapata, founder of an early 20th Century agrarian revolutionary movement that still influences governance in Mexico.
One thing these individuals have in common: All are or were figures on the left. There’s no room for American conservatives here, no one like the Black Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina or newly-elected Republican Congresswomen Michelle Steel and Young Kim of Orange County, both Korean-Americans.
There are also no Irish or Jews, or Indians or Armenians on the list of individuals to be studied for sure, no Chinese-Americans, no immigrant business leaders like the founders of Zoom, Google and other seminal California companies. That makes the list highly partisan, allowing the right to plausibly label it a propaganda instrument.
There is also an objectionable, though optional, lesson on Aztec gods including Texcatlipoca, supposedly the originator of human sacrifice and other problematic practices.
Most of this will satisfy educators from the Critical Ethnic Studies Association, dedicated to teaching about the prevalence of white supremacy, racial privilege and oppression in American history. But there’s nothing here about more establishment minority group members, like the scientist Booker T. Washington.
This is deliberate, as made plain by state Schools Supt. Tony Thurmond. The curriculum, he said last August, “needs…fidelity to the four ethnic groups that launched the (critical ethnic studies) movement” during a 1968 student strike at San Francisco State University: African-Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and Native Americans. He did not explain why the new curriculum must stay faithful to ideas conceived more than 50 years ago by emotionally heated students lacking solid academic credentials.
The planned curriculum would also introduce some new concepts, bound to bring loud protests. Most prominent of those is the idea of “racial privilege,” introduced by Thurmond’s staff rather than by the generally leftist members of the state Education Department’s Instructional Quality Commission, designer of the first two versions of the curriculum.
This segment of the program would feature a unit on Irish- and Jewish-Americans “redefining themselves as white and American” and thus gaining alleged racial privilege they may not previously have had. Never mind that both Irish and Jewish immigrants faced massive discrimination upon arriving in America, overcoming college admission quotas, ethnic and religious exclusions in rental leases and land covenants by dint of hard work and academic effort.
The implication is that other Caucasian immigrant groups like German-Americans, Italian-Americans and Hungarian refugees arrived with white privilege, no matter how difficult their lives may really have been. Meanwhile, Jews – who maintained their identify for millenia in the face of hundreds of massacres even before the Holocaust – would be portrayed as striving to shuck their longtime identity to present themselves as white, just to get ahead.
This concept is only very marginally accurate, at best, and should have been laughed off, but now appears on its way into public school curricula. What’s more, the California program figures to be copied in other states.
In short, the newest version of the proposed ethnic studies program may be improved, but still contains gaping holes, questionable subject matter, plus some bigotry.
Which means it needs still more improvement before anyone dreams of adopting it.

This curriculum reminds me of my high school years in communist Poland. History classes were nothing more than an endless enumeration of the wrongs visited on the noble working classes by greedy, vicious landowners and capitalists. The facts and historical events that were cited were all authentic, but the context and interpretation were so obviously skewed that we (the students) did as little work as possible, learned nothing of value, and came to hate school (so did the teachers, by the way). When I moved to the US to go to college, my eyes were finally opened to scholarship and learning. That's why I love this country, and don't want to see it destroyed by well-meaning but misguided wokeness.

“Progressive to the point of self-parody” could not be more spot on. I hate to agree with a republican but the excerpts from the curriculum I have read here are literal propaganda. ALL of the issues addressed within the “ethnic studies” course should be incorporated, rather, directly into history courses. There should be no distinction between the two. All jargon and loaded terminology like “cisheterepatriarchy” should be stripped away. Many of these very valid topics/stories can still be addressed in a more rational and straightforward way without devolving into this insanity. This curriculum in its current incarnation seems incredibly divisive, designed to stoke hatred, rage, and clashes between “groups” who now more than ever are obsessed with “identifying” themselves as victims of X, Y, and Z. The emphasis everywhere on “identity” and ancestor worship, or taking on the pain of ancestor oppression, is truly bizarre. I see it everyday in the increasingly loaded language of the Times. I live in California, am a state and local tax payer here, and no way is this going to fly with me.

I have a PhD in history. If you teach history in all its inclusiveness, as it is, then it is taught to include the narrative of a whole bunch of different groups. Just teach history! They do not need to teach this stuff with an agenda. It is not good scholarship and does not teach critical thinking.

We need to decide as a nation, is academia a place to learn, build knowledge, and expand consciousness via diversity of thought and opinion? Or is it about indoctrination into an ideology that emphasizes grievance and victimization based on dubious social theories that breeds racial resentment? Activism has its place in society but I fear it has taken over journalism, academia, and more and more, the corporate world.

I was born in a Communist country. From kindergarten age, we were indoctrinated with "Dear Leader good, evil capitalists bad, proletarians of all nations, unite!" all day, every day. Every subject was permeated with it, except math, I guess. Language classes were all about reading stories about evil capitalists or translating paragraphs from the illustrious life of Great Leader. History classes were fine, but everything was taught through the lens of class warfare. In music class, we learned mostly patriotic songs. Starting in middle school, there were entire classes devoted to the history of the Party and Marxism. This carried through all the way to college. Parents dealt with it by explaining to their kids at home that all of this is bullshit, but they have to learn it in order to get anywhere in life.
My family left that shithole and came here, so that my children wouldn't have to deal with the same bullshit growing up. LJL.

I still have a alphabet book from elementary school used to teach little kids letters and how to read. Nothing ideological in the book until the last page where the final prose the kids are supposed to read before they are done with learning how to read is:
180 as fuck.

Like all great Soviet prose there is, of course, some 180 truth hidden in there:

Жизни не жалел,
the party apparatchik who approved this had to have had an IQ of 85 not to have caught the bitter anti-communist message in this shit....
