I'm in the same boat too. Noone's giving any actual advice though. Anything would be helpful because I don't know the difference between any firms. Only thing I know is that firms like Cravath/Weil/Sullivan are pretty much out of range. Other than that, I don't know the difference between a "reach" and "safety" firm.

(DC and NY here)

I think a 3.45 is different at each MVP.

But in NYC, you should have a good shot at Debevoise / PW / WGM. DPW, Cleary, and CSM are reaches.

We are always looking for bright minds who can handle a little more responsibility than is usual in their first year at our firm.

Do you have a family? We think that family is the cornerstone to any career.

Do you like outdoor activities? Plenty of even our busiest partners have time for golf, hiking and especially scuba-diving.

I'm worried about my student loans; does the firm have any way to assist me paying them off? Also, I don't have a car right now . . .

Tragedy has struck at BLL; two associates were killed in an ice-fishing accident.

On the brightside, we are now taking applications for two new positions! And to answer your question, yes we do offer substantial loan repayment assistance. We can also "negotiate" with your lender to obtain a better interest rate.

Ding! The correct answer is that the firm does not allow, as a matter of course, associates to start with any debt, and pays all of your debt upon passing the bar. Good try tho.

Remember when XO used to have firms listed along the side and there was a link for Bendini, Lambert, and Locke?

Good times.

The advice in this thread is hilariously optimistic. Bid on the shittiest rancid festering TTTs that pay over $130k and hope for the best. You need to be top quarter before you can even THINK about being selective.

hrmmm, seeing as the LR cutoff (like top 7%) is 3.71 or so, 3.6 is probably a little bit but not much below that . . . it's a bell curve . . .
