However, this position is a ludicrious position that no one actually holds. No one says that your self-worth is tied to your GPA. They may say that your worth is tied to your GPA. They may say that your career is tied to your GPA. However, your "self-worth" is what you are worth to yourself. No one who does not know you personally would make a claim as to how you evaluate yourself.
Furthermore, the fact that your self-worth isn't tied to your GPA isn't particularly meaningful. Why do I care how you measure yourself? Let's say I consider your GPA to be the most important representation of your personhood. Do I care that you do not evaluate yourself in this way? Were I to disagree with you, I would simply look at you with a sneer and condescending ridicule. |
