I had two interviews with a firm that I would very much like to work for. The first one was with the managing partner, and we got along great. The second one was with a bunch more partners, but due to nerves, and some slightly unprofessional behavior during the interview by one of the partners, I felt like it didn't go nearly as well as the first. Not bad, but just not really good. Also, I completely forgot my stock answers to gloss over some holes in my resume due to nerves, and felt like I didn't explain myself enough.

I didn't hear from them in over a month, but every week I either emailed or left a short voice message with the managing partner, expressing my continued interest (with no response). Maybe three weeks ago, I got an email saying that they had put the hiring decision on hold, and would let me know when they made a decision. Last week, another email saying that they would be hiring soon. Today I get an email saying that they will be making the hiring decision really soon, and that the start date will be in July or August.

Question: How should I respond to this latest email? Should I send another short sweet "I am still interested in this position" email, or a slightly longer one expressing how I am qualified for the job, and a good fit with the firm (stuff that I have said over and over in the interview)? Anything else I should consider in this situation? I have been looking for another job for over a year, and this one would be awesome. Actually, I need this job, so please give me legit, insightful, and awesome advice. TYIA.

he said in one of the most recent emails that I am a "strong candidate" for the position. Plus today's email has actually given me hope, and he said that they would let me know soon.

it has nothing to do with your qualification (whatever boilerplate they use). it has to do with them telling you, shut the fuck up, this will take some time.

Just a short and sweet email saying thank you for the note and that you are still really interested and if there is anything that you can provide to assist with their decision then to please let you know.

Either is OK - neither will make a difference in their decision. Even radio silence might be OK since they can't have any doubt about your interest - actually it might make you look less desperate.
