There is no fucking "pre-law". The term is used by indecisive undergrads who have no clue what to do with their lives so they call themselves "Pre-law" so they can sound important and justify their degree in Poli Sci or Criminal Justice.

"But, but, I'm taking classes like 'Law & Society' or 'Law & Business', I even took 'Law and the Constitution' "

It's bullshit. You aren't learning the law. You are learning vocabulary words.

Be honest with your parents and yourself and say you are a Liberal Arts major.

Well, I would say you don't learn the law until day 1 of your first summer internship.

I learned so much working for a Judge after my 1L year that I wanted to go punch my 1L Professors who tried to make this crap so complicated.

I regret not getting a judicial internship -- I heard the same thing from many sources.

Can you explain what you learned? I know an intern who drafted a memo about whether they should have a new trial. It taught him more about Civ Pro, he said, than anything he learned in class.

Working for a Judge gives you a birds-eye view of the case. There are no bullshit arguments from the Judge's point of view.

What does the Plaintiff say

What does the Defendant say

They both are full of shit, so what does the Law say.

The Judge does not have a client to satisfy, so if there is a negative fact in the case, the Judge doesn't have to try to cover it up with bullshit equivocation.

Plus, when you make a phone call from the Judge's chambers, you are speaking with the authority of the Judge. Lawyers JUMP to answer the phone and to answer your question directly.

Plus, if your Judge is connected and they like you, then your network will greatly expand.

I blame the Admissions Office. They probably got tired of people asking, "What can i do with a liberal arts degree?" So they cooked up this title so students would feel special about themselves.

Taking prereqs doesn't give you a right to call yourself pre-med anymore than taking real analysis entitles you to call yourself pre-PhD-in-math.

The only thing worst than a undergrad student who calls themselves a "Pre-law" major is someone who never went to law school in the first place.

I met a stripper once and she said, "Yeah, ya know, I was a pre-law major when I was in school, I even worked for a law firm too. But then I just needed a break from school and stuff. I might still go back and then go to law school."

Actually, at many universities offer "pre-law" as a major, if not a specialty curriculum/concentration. Some schools even have a "pre-law" department. Your school clearly does not have such offerings, but for those that do, it's perfectly fine for them to say they are "pre-law".

"lucrative pre-law tenured position"

lolwut?

Most Pre-law advisers are just Professors in the Poli Sci department that never practiced law and their sole job is to answer the same three questions:

1. What do I need to major in to go to law school?

2. What's the LSAT

3. What are good law schools to apply to?

Anything outside of those three questions and they are stumped.

You are exactly why I made this thread.

In your attempt to "prove me wrong" you missed the entire fucking point.

JUST BECAUSE YOUR SCHOOL CALLS SOMETHING PRE-LAW DOES NOT MAKE IT PRE-LAW, JACKASS!

You are not learning the law, you are learning vocabulary words.

If you were actually taught the law, then you would've learned critical-thinking skills and wouldn't have made such a stupid reply ITT.
