Seems pretty self-explanatory:
If a firm has one entry and lists multiple offices, then one bid probably makes you eligible for consideration at all of those offices.
If a firm has multiple entries with a different office under each, then an additional bid is required to interview with each additional office.
If a firm has multiple entries with a different office under each, but includes instructions that no multiple bids are allowed, then you can only bid on the entry listing your first choice city/cities.

1) I posted this thread in response to a UMich thread, which was extremely active at the same time.
2) I've posted pretty much identical threads asking similar questions at peak hours and they were similarly inactive. UVA students just aren't very vocal on the board like some other T14s.
So kindly fuck off.

ITE, firm research matters dood. Among other things, knowing which practice groups in which firms still keep busy, or at least haven't kicked the bucket, counts for a lot when the hiring committee will be wondering, "Can this guy be useful to us in two years?" Firms will also be looking maximize yields in acceptances from post-summer offers (unlike in past, better years where pissing away cash on summer associates unlikely to return was no biggie).
Marketing oneself as the right "fit" for particular firms in terms of practice focus, interests, and personality could very well be determinative, especially at the margins.

thanks. exactly.
under the 50 50 system, each firm picks ten and then has to take ten interviews. ITE, they're probably only hiring 1 person at best. The odds of the 1 person being someone they didn't choose seems extremely slim.
I'd rather have 2 interviews with firms that prescreened me than 30 with lottery picks that I have no shot with anyway. Maybe in past years you could charm your way into a firm job with grades below their cutoff, but I doubt it for this year.
This may not make much sense, but then again, I'm somewhat drunk. Apologies.
