from a T20.
Join me in kicking myself for not getting straight A+s every semester like I did the last semester. And my last semester wasn't a slack-off 3-hours either. It was 12 hours of hard shit.
Why the fuck did I slack for five semesters. :'(

a bunch of seminars is a sure way to boost GPA. but taking 4 essays in a semester could screw you over.
ideal is to take 2 seminars with essays, 1 test class that's easy, 1 skills class like dispute resolution or negotiations.
that is the best way to generally assure a high GPA in a semester. YWIA

I figured out how to properly outline. That's all it was.
I was very independent in law school and never studied with people. The last semester I studied with one person, and she talked about all these methods of studying I'd never done before. I saw her outline for our shared class. She did some prep work for finals like brainstorming keywords that should hint what issues I should open my eyes for.
This was for my first final.
I frantically did the same thing for my other three.
Fucking worked, man.

It was acquired while I was submedian but with stellar LORs
Now I just need to get my paper selected for publication in August.

Not particularly, from what I'd gather by the astonished reactions when I mention "T20 submedian" and "magistrate clerkship" in the same sentence around people in the know.
I was ed board on a top ranking 2dary journal, had three glowing recs, including one from a member of the elect, and had two other profs calling judges for me. Boss at my SA gig also wrote a rec talking about how I'm already better than some practicing attorneys at his workplace.
Suffice to say I hussled my ass off for months. I selected both my SA gigs because they would provide me the most connections in the government for potential clerkship hookups. I interviewed for about half a dozen clerkships before I got hired, ranging from state appellate to federal district.
I'm very lucky to have scored this gig.

1L: Series of mostly Bs and B+s with a couple A-s
2L: Basically the same
3L: a C+ and the same as before first semester, second semester straight A+s
I guess I'm finally one of those people who "just get" how to take LS exams. Unfortunately it took 2.5 years to get there. :( :( :(
On, and one of those A+s was fed courts.

Proper outline.
Proper headings to make it easier for a prof to spot your key points in the 5 minutes he spends to grade your entire exam.
Make a list of keywords that hint certain issues are lurking in an issuespotter so you don't have to think about issues, but instead just spot them.
You do have to be smart though. I was always smart. I just couldn't take exams for shit until my last semester.
