Because I'm new here. Were people here high in the idea of going to a lower T-14, graduating at median, and getting multiple market-paying offers? I can't even picture it.

Yes conventional wisdom was that only aspie morons at t14 did not get biglaw and they were right. A Weil offer was considered the pinnacle of shame. Latham to 190 was said in seriousness.

people talked about how biglaw was miserable. everyone was looking for a plan to get out, be it a midlaw firm, boutique, whatever. nevertheless, mandy found herself looking forward to biglaw.

Models and Bottles.

Even T25 was landing almost 50% in Biglaw back then in some circumstances.

any talk of working for the govt was laughed at, unless it was fed clerking or SEC type gigs. Anything less than a V10 or V20 was laughed at. There was no talk about taco trucks, working for best buy, etc.

What a shit profession to be able to plummet so exponentially in a matter of 3 years.

There were lots of threads comparing the prestige levels of different firms and schools. People made minor distinctions in this regard that seem risible now.

People were pissed off if their firm wasn't leading the raise from $125K to $135K, or $135K to #160K.

You'd take a bunch of callbacks for teh lulz, then come to XO and talk about the best restaurants you went to for lunch, and the quality of the hotels for the callbacks.

Summer associate programs were boozefests with massive lulz and hookups. 3-hour lunches with unlimited purchases were the norm.

Bankers came here and bragged about their superior paychecks. XO denizens (mostly lawyers) and bankers ripped on each other... lawyers noting that the bankers were untalented, mindless Excel-monkeys, bankers noting that biglawyers were bankers' bitches.

Lehman Brothers, for a time, did pwn law.
