Additionally, they get overflow from Planet, so there are a lot of proles walking around with their TI whale bones full of tequila. This obviously damages their image, and the Cosmo's greatest risk is succumbing to bros in bedazzled jeans and chin strap beards. If they can stave off that crowd somehow (probably thought the higher stakes table games would accomplish this) they will be fine. They have shit games and also have made it fairly clear that they're not interested in marketing to and retaining gamblers. Their problem is that they put in higher-stakes games, but kept them shitty; I've heard people talk about 6:5 blackjack with $25 and even $50 minimums.
Their problems are fairly obvious, but they don't seem to want to fix them, and as a result nobody who actually cares about gambling would go there. And as much as they'd like to pretend otherwise, a casino resort in Las Vegas needs to make money from its casino. Not only are they still losing money overall ($23.4m loss for 1Q12), but their casino revenue is going *down* ($30.8m versus $31m a year ago). |

I just wish they weren't so badly managed on the casino level, because as much as I like the place, I'm not going to stay there for $300 a night when Mandalay Bay and Mirage are throwing free rooms at me left and right, and even Wynn is offering me a decent casino rate. And I certainly wouldn't drop $850k on a condo there. |

And thus I wouldn't buy a condo there. |

EDIT: Reading that awful website ("Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is Las Vegas newest casino") there are apparently twenty or so units that didn't make it into the hotel pool. Would you actually want to live in a place like that, where you own one of 20 rooms out of about 3000 total? Especially since I'm sure as hell the owners don't want you there. |
