went to T14 LS, finished median. Polisci major, not a lot of experience besides law-related stuff. Because I was a huge procrastinator in UG, if I was involved in any NGO stuff or whatever, usually disappointed due to slacking/not totally carrying thru.

Not really sure what else I could do tbh. Thought of "project management", job description appeals to me, but most jobs seem science/engineering oriented or require a lot of experience in the field to manage projects. I don't know WTF to transition to.

Not many other options out there. Accounting would probably be the easiest for most lawyers but you don't seem interested.

I am interested in the law but after briefly reviewing bar materials and learning about litigation in general (only reason I attended LS - wanted to be a litigator), I'm not sure I have the requisite skills or stamina for it. It seems like a glamorous career in the media and whatev but IRL it seems like a lot of fucking hard work and I'm lazy and not particularly good at multi-tasking. I also have a shitty memory and not sure I'd (1) pass NY bar to begin with and (2) would be able to remember and elucidate upon facts without referring to notes constantly, which will look bad. I will also prob be stressed out all the time and don't really want that.

Edit: yes, have a shit law jerb lined up.

I'm curious - what about litigation makes you think that? You haven't even started practicing yet.

I'm interested because I want to go into litigation.

What do you WANT to do? Tell me your UG GPA.

UG GPA was 3.1 overall..3.3-3.5 last 2 years.

Reading over civ pro/evidence rules; the many stages involved in lit and prep involved makes me re-consider. Also, my memory and lack of organizational skills etc. I've fucked up on previous summer and clinic jobs and somehow barely managed to scrape thru UG without failing. I get overwhelmed and can't complete things on time. Litigation is stressful and u need to file things by certain dates or you're screwed; need to adequately prep witnesses and trial strategy , file hundreds of documents. The more I think about it, the more overwhelming it seems and like something that would inevitably lead to my crash and burn. I think I'd much prefer a less stressful and demanding 9-5 job with less on the line. The thought of appearing in court isn't appealing anymore either.

how did you fuck up summer and clinic projects? wasn't it embarrassing? aren't you motivated by not wanting to seem like an idiot to your supervisors and peers?

Cr.....also idk if my supervisor's opinion of me changed after she wrote my ref but it was glowing. I got the best grades in the class for client memos and presentations so I did well on other aspects that gave the impression I was working hard. Clients also loved me despite always arriving late. I think time management is srly one of my biggest barriers.

I'd ideally want to do something in project management/organization, maybe politics/social advocate. I don't have enough connections or extroversion to be truly good at the latter though.

There is zero "creative thinking" in project management. You get a $30M project and you follow a series of tasks to get project completed on time and within budget. The business stakeholders assigned to the project are the creative thinkers -- not the PM. Project managers are glorified admin. assistants.

My summer job was a clinic job and I actually got a good reference from it. My supervisor was never at Court and I mean I fucked up there at times (small tribunal like hearings). I was also occassionally late for court but court staff and chair persons liked me (they weren't judges- edit) and never gave any stress about it. Also my supervisor allowed me to 'work from home' so I rarely came in anytime before noon. it was a sweet 2L summer school clinic job..I didn't treat it seriously enough though, and I think my sleep schedule fucked with that. I was late meeting clients too but supervisor never found out.

Another clinic job was pure pass/fail my final semester of 3L and I just didn't care. Also difficulty motivating myself to work at clinic, didn't need reference, would never see them again idk. I really doubt I'd be as lazy on any job in the future but it does take me a while to get assignments done, prob too long. I don't think law is prob best for me tbh, due tO intense deadlines
