Strongman is the only cool strength sport imo.
Powerlifting - gear makes it gay, max strength is cool but no one really relates to a one fucking rep squat max. It should be deadlifting and strict OHP.
Oly lifting - can be cool, but mostly small dudes and technique matters more than actual strength. Yes, some of the really good oly lifters are jacked, but a lot of them are small. Not as fun to watch.
Highland games - comes across as more of fringe hobby because of the kilts. Cool though because has a lot of throwing events.
Crossfit - Crossfit is obviously gay and not really a strength sport.
Strongman - actually rewards all around strong and in shape dudes. It can easily be setup with events that also emphasize speed and endurance. World Strongest Man does this now. That is why Pudz often dominated - he was in phenomenal shape. Strongman also involves some amount of actual athleticism.
It has cool events - tire flips, truck pulls, farmers walks, atlas stones, keg toss, sandbag carries, etc. Throw in deadlifts and OHP, both of which you can train for with a barbell, and you have sport which requires total body strength and conditioning.
I doubt it will ever get mainstream because small dudes shy away. This is what makes crossfit popular - any 165lb'r can do it and become a gym hero in 6 months.
