yes
youre misunderstanding me... its not about someone reciting new facts to me everyday.
in addition to knowing a lot guys who possess the sort of intelligence i admire are good problem solvers, they're perceptive... what can i say? theyre just smart. i feel more enriched being around them.

yea #1 is key
i could never respect a guy i felt smarter than
i totally lost interest in this one guy i was dating after i had to explain to him what "TMJ" means... he thought it meant throat, mouth and jaw

temporomandibular (sp?) joint
the phrase is used often in medicine to refer to a littany of disorders involving the mouth/jaw... i was having a lot of headaches and weird face pain at the time and i was seeing a neurologist, which is why it came up
the guy also happens to suffer from headaches and he sees a neurologist frequently so he was familiar with the term
i dont know why it came up but he said it and it lowered my opinion of him. shrug
when doctors say things to me that i dont understand i look them up... i dunno i just thought it was weird that he never had the curiosity to figure out what it meant after years of hearing doctors refer to it... if he'd never heard the term i wouldnt have held it against him

Your reaction. His awareness of the actual word behind some obscure medical initialism has nothing to do with his intelligence. You were probably getting signals that he wasn't as smart as you prefer in many other ways, but being bothered by that one thing is bizarre.
I mean, c'mon. I remember you trying to discuss boner pills in a thread a while back and you had no concept of the physical mechanism at work in those drugs, or how they actually effect men. When XO was like "hey wtf, aren't you headed to med school?" your response was to shrug it off and say "I haven't taken a pharma class yet, how should I know anything about drugs?"

but im not a man, im never taken viagra, im in my 20s, no man i have ever dated has ever taken viagra and ive never had any reason to learn more about them.
i know a lot about drugs that i've taken or have some importance to me
this guy has heard neurologists reference tmj for years (he said as much) and never bothered to figure out wtf they were talking about.
i know what the term means because while visiting doctors i heard them refer to tmj issues like 100 times and...i am interested in knowing what is wrong with me?

i dont like people who are not intellectually curious
i think for example, if you have a form of cancer you should figure out what it is so that you can say more than "i have cancer" if someone asks you
it wasnt that he didnt know that bothered me but that he didnt care to know. like i said if hed never been exposed to the term "tmj" i wouldn't have thought it reflected on him either way
that said, i prob find science more interesting than most people and associate knowledge and understanding of science with intelligence...
there are a lot of topics i dont know anything about, but i know that i know nothing about them. as a matter of fact i know that i dont understand the mechanisms through which viagra works - i jokingly said something like "does it just make you hard all day or something?" which i know not to be the case. but id freely admit that i know nothing on the subject and have never had any interest in learning more about it.

But that doesn't mean he isn't intellectually curious in other ways. It means he heard a bunch of medical jargon over the years and never felt like looking up the initials for the exact definition. Comparing it to not being motivated to research what form of cancer you have is silly.
My point is that you're not dinging that guy based on intelligence because his lack of interest in learning about TMJ says nothing about his intelligence or broader base of knowledge. You're dinging him because he did something differently than you would have.

no, i am pretty sure that people who i consider intelligent - polish dood for example - would bother to figure out what it means. ive
there are lots of people who are different than me who are intelligent
i feel like im beating a dead horse at this point though if you want to believe my standards are too stringent go ahead

I like smart, hardworking, assertive/strong women.
As for physical characteristics, there are all sorts that can be appealing. I'm currently favoring tallish, curvy (but not fat) Amazon types. They don't exactly catch my eye and make my heart race, but these chicks can be 180 in bed.
When a relatively large, strong woman climbs on top of me, I get this vague feeling that I'm not totally in control of what is about to happen. It's a very liberating sensation.

Taller than me (5'7). Over 6'0 is ideal.
Smart. Good listener who's able to give advice and be supportive. Has a great sense of humor and is open-minded to different opinions. Driven in his career and motivated. Dominant, but not overbearing. Generally a nice dood who is honest and communicates well.

When you say driven, which of the following do you mean:
(A) Entrepreneurial
(B) Passionate about his work
(C) Successful at what he does (even if he hates his job)
Also, do you evaluate how reasonable the man's expectations of success are? For example, entrepreneurial dood that owns 3 Quiznos and has a net worth of $600,000 dreams of becoming POTUS some day.

im more surprised at the bias against tall girls :(
all the guys itt who mentioned height said they wanted a girl under 5'6
i guess i didnt realize this because the men i've dated have preferred tall girls (obv since they were with me... but i figured most guys were indifferent to height)

There are many different shades of brown. A lot of girls have brown eyes that are honey-brown and that can be gorgeous. Brown hair that is light brown is also gorgeous. Chestnut brown hair, honey brown eyes and light skin is the 180 girl next door combo.
Chicks with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes look best if they have fair skin (Eva Green, Mila Kunis) and they'd be orders of magnitude hotter if they were blondes, or even lightened their hair.
I live in America, not Africa, so 85% of people do not have dark brown hair/dark brown eyes and tan skin. Maybe in Spanish Harlem or Compton they do.....

lol steez
youve never managed to explain why shes on playboy, maxim, fhm etc when only women like her
maybe young suburban american guys dont like her but more worldly guys def do. polish guy loves her for one but hes been to like every country in the world and lived in almost as many so he doesnt judge all women by the cheerleader in suburban ohio who he had a crush on at the age of 15... hes been all around the world, dated women of every race/ethnicity and realizes that there are beauties of all types

i dont really care about her since i dont watch her show or anything but i don't know any white guys who think she's ideal or one of the hottest famous women (that's what we're talking about) and you would definitely get laughed at if you said you wanted to wife someone like her. she is definitely considered trash by white guys.
if that's your best example of an ethnic woman then this guy would be right that most white men aren't into that

I can honestly say that looks don't even enter my top criteria anymore. obviously she has to be beautiful but I have dated enough vacant 8's to now know better than to only care about that.
she must be:
ambitious
driven
confident
intelligent but in a worldly, curious, way, not book smart
elegant and graceful
pure class
deep
funny/witty
not a lawyer
