No, it's not. It still has the same problems associated with modern life -- feeling like you constantly need to be in front of comp, check e-mails, doing work, but end up just wasting a vast amount of time doing dumb shit on the Internet, just like I would if I were at the office.

But it's still definitely better than going into the office. Don't waste hours a day commuting. Can go do random shit during the day. Ultimate flexibility.

sitting home all day fiddling around on a computer sounds like hell on earth. at least mingling with the last remaining real people on earth is therapeutic.

lol if you think there is much 'mingling' in the typical law office. even when you are at the office you end up just e-mailing and calling people most of the time.

I did this about 20% of the time early in my career. Your career won't go anywhere working from home though.

I do this once every 2 weeks in BIG FED. I always pick a Friday. Usually can fit a "training" into another Friday afternoon and it means I rarely "work" more than more than one friday a month.

Nice bro. I was offered a bigfed gig in a really shitty department and I remember the selling point was you could work from home 3 days a week after a year or some shit.

It's got ups and downs. I try not to abuse work from home because I do legitimately want to have a career. You'll never get promoted if you're not involved heavily with the day-to-day shit. It's just nice to have in my back pocket.

Sort of, but they can always *make* a job for you. I'm a GS-13 and the only way I will get into a 14/15 job in the next few years is if our office director decides to request another 14/15 position.

These boomers sitting in the 14/15 jobs are late 50s and going absolutely fucking nowhere in the next 10 years (cop dat pension at 65).

Hence, having a good personal relationship with the director is important. Working at home 2/month is NBD, I don't even think they notice, but I am so fucking life pwned if I don't get into a more senior level job before my early 30s.

Looks good except for that 5pm hour. You could be on the golf course then to get in a late 9.

I'm seriously considering golfing once a week. Just find a cheap $10 per 9 course and roll out solo. Get a quick 9 in before 10 a.m. and be back with no one the wiser.
