that's the thing, tommy. a mother's love for her son is essentially unconditional and unlimited. this is a universal truth spanning creeds and cultures--you might even call it a classic trope dating back to antiquity. nothing i did ever changed how much my mother loved me.

not even tanking my grades as a high school sophomore and diminishing my college chances. not even being ungrateful for the sacrifices she and my dad made to bring me and my siblings here so we could have more opportunities. not even abusing drugs and alcohol. not even that time i was home after i was forced to take time off school because of all my problems and i got so gakked out abusing substances and drinking that when my dad told me how obviously i was fucking my life up i literally attacked him and beat him so bad they had to call the police and have me arrested.

she's told me time and again none of my (many) fuckups ever stopped her from believing that the good and the potential she saw in me would ultimately win out, and they certainly never did and never could stop her from loving me with all her heart.
