The movie broke a lot of Star Wars conventions, like using flashbacks. A lot of the designs were over the top even by prequel standards, and a lot of the effects had a cartoonish feel.
It was also weird how they used a lot of modern idioms. Poe actually says "Big ass gun"
A lot of it had the pacing and stylings of a LOTR movie, come to think of it |

Like when that single x wing flew out there and was like “I’ll hold for General pasty white guy” and then he acted like he could t hear him, then he flew and blew up all the turret guns on a destroyer because “it’s Too small” for destroyer guns that he was destroying to track ? Then, the entire bomber fleet attacks the destroyers and are killed. Then, at the end, it is revealed that if s ship goes to light speed through another ship, it can blow up the other ship even w it’s shields up, so the bombers could have just jumped to light speed and suicide exploded all the first order ships from the beginning.
