I think I saw one once before when I was kid. These 3 have all happened this week. Last Wednesday, last Thursday, and tonight.

that's because there was a yuge meteor shower that peaked early this week, dude

not a regular thing.

I was gonna go watch it with a chick on Sunday night, but it was all cloudy here, which sucked

astronomy would be an interesting hobby but I don't have the time. It's not useful enough to be a priority for me.

pretty insane if you think about it that polynesians traversed thousands of miles of empty ocean in fucking canoes and shit using nothing but the stars. Their astronomical navigation skills were off the charts

Yeah, I think the sky is pretty neat. If you go somewhere dark you can see the glow of the Milky Way stretching all the way across the sky. To think that that is something like 100,000,000 stars or whatever and there are millions and millions of galaxies is pretty mind blowing.

And shooting stars are just cool. They come as a yuge surprise, and if you’re not looking up, you miss them. They are beautiful and mysterious and ephemeral.

think bigger than that

the Milky Way has like between 100 and 200 BILLION stars. There are hundreds of BILLIONS of galaxies. There are literally more stars in the universe than grains of sand on Earth. Also they just recently proved (no idea how, guess it's just based on smaller observed samples extrapolated) that at least in the Milky Way, there are more planets than stars. So even if only like 1 in a million planets are conducive to the evolution of life, there are a fuckton of aliens out there (maybe intelligent, maybe not)
