To open up space for flouride to reach more enamel. And to remove the high concentrations of bacteria released all over your mouth by flossing.

SAD had a thread about this once. RIP.

I instinctively flush after. I feel that I will remove most of the particles during brushing and only the leftovers will remain, which I will floss and rinse at the end.

If I flossed before, it would be a very dirty floss and I would feel compelled to floss again after brushing. My 2 cents.

First thing I do is rinse 2 times to get the first pieces out (especially if I ate meat or salad.)

Once I feel clean, I brush. Then, being super clean, I floss remaining particles. Finally, I rinse twice, once with bakng soda and a second time with water.

"Flossing plus toothbrushing showed a statistically significant benefit compared to toothbrushing in reducing gingivitis at the three time points studied, the SMD being ‐0.36 (95% CI ‐0.66 to ‐0.05) at 1 month, SMD ‐0.41 (95% CI ‐0.68 to ‐0.14) at 3 months and SMD ‐0.72 (95% CI ‐1.09 to ‐0.35) at 6 months. The 1‐month estimate translates to a 0.13 point reduction on a 0 to 3 point scale for Loe‐Silness gingivitis index, and the 3 and 6 month results translate to 0.20 and 0.09 reductions on the same scale.

Overall there is weak, very unreliable evidence which suggests that flossing plus toothbrushing may be associated with a small reduction in plaque at 1 or 3 months.

None of the included trials reported data for the outcomes of caries, calculus, clinical attachment loss, or quality of life. There was some inconsistent reporting of adverse effects."

The value of the flossing is unrelated to the brushing so it doesn't matter, and any relationship between the two is imagined because you project one as duplicating the job of the other, hth.

Wrong. By flossing before, you expose additional tooth surface area for brushing that would not otherwise be exposed. Because this additional surface area gets contact with toothpaste that it would not otherwise get, the tooth is in better shape than if you waited until afterward to floss.

I love XO.

“flossing does nothing, why bother?” (awash in good information to the contrary)

“vegetables don’t do anything for you, why bother?” (awash in good information to the contrary)

“alcohol and weed are feminine” (awash in good information to the contrary)

“hey guys crypto is a can’t miss investment this month you’re a pathetic cuck if you get in for less than $10k!” (because some financially insecure pumos on XO said so)

Even at its peak XO was never smart as everyone around here kept insisting, but LJL at what we have become. This place has become a repository for the ornery social rejects who are too meek to have a voice somewhere like 4chan.

Wife is an orthodontist. She flosses before. That said, flossing is 100% unscientific flame.

I asked my dentist this and he said he really didn't think it mattered.

That said, I use Listerine first, then floss BEFORE to open up those tooth gaps for the bristles and toothpaste.

After reading this thread, I will now use Listerine, then floss, then brush, then rinse, then brush, then leave the toothpaste on to placate the little flouride pigs that are my teeth

A pretty girl working at Chipotle told me I had nice teeth

You mean that the brush won't losen it? I thought that flossing was to remove the food particles trapped between teeth and molars and brushing would losen plaque. You just bought into the advertising used by GC. JFC at this shitboard.

You are right.

Shows you how many retards are posting here.

They think a full-on brush won't "loosen up" the plaque but a little string will. If that were the case, why not just floss and rinse and never brush?

Flossing is to get where the brush can't.

everyone here must have shit grimy teeth.

If flossing is to get where the brush can't what difference does it make if you floss before or after?

The difference is that the brush will get rid of the superficial shit first, then the floss will get to the hidden/stuck stuff.

It probably doesn't make as huge a difference as everyone claims here. When you clean your kitchen, do you first work on the dirt that is stuck or do you clean everything and at the end work on the worst shit? Will it make a difference at the end? It won't. The kitchen will still be clean.

I don't like the idea of flossing a dirty mouth because i feel it will contaminate the rest of the mouth. I rinse first, brush, once semi-clean, I take out the stuff that is stuck now that is not completely gross, then I rinse off any remains. Feels cleaner to me, but to each their own.
