I bought an older thinkpad after feedback from the forums. I immediately resold it.
Here's why I'd get a newer midel: 1440p or 4k displays, USB-c to have one charger that powers all your portable electronics.
Newer cpus with 4 or 8 cores are faster and more efficient. The x1c is also 2.5lbs.
It's an overall much more pleasant experience traveling and staring at a newer thinkpad. |

i've given a few to nephews after swapping out choice parts (N-6300 wifi adapter in some models, second RAM dimm, IPS display).
also have a poasting / torrenting x230 i keep at my desk.
another one in my garage for reading pdf factory service manuals.
looking at my office shelf now, i have a pristine i7 + IPS machine i've never opened and another one in pieces for parts. |

It was decently made but not sure it is any better than Lenovo. They are, however, responsible for a lot of the bullshit you see in the computing/phone world (non-removable batteries, soldered SSDs/RAM, first to kill the headphone jack, etc.). |
