Date: September 8th, 2020 7:01 PM Author: yellow parlour I got into town, checked in, grabbed my laptop and headed down to the bar.
At first everyone was happy, upbeat, and celebratory. I started drinking and ordered some bar food but not enough as it turned out. Had browser tabs open for all major networks, xoxo, Daily Kos, and a drinks tab for the bar.
Then as results started creeping in they were nervous and "what the fuck" but "still we got this" like Hitler at the start of that famous clip.
The news kept going back to Florida and the people were starting to get angry and hurt. I was several drinks in by that point. xoxo was a laugh riot as usual. xoxo steered me to the needle.
Eventually the patrons were stunned and all "this isn't happening -- tell me this isn't happening."
I kept everyone informed, "omg, the needle has Hillary below 50%!"
My laptop, glued to the NYT needle, was running low so I had to dash up to my room and plug it back in. I realized how shitfaced I was getting and I vowed to switch to water for the next hour or so.
Got back to the bar. By then they were getting mopey. Morose. Predicting stock market disaster, WW3, abolition of abortion.
I tried a little concern trolling, "Geez, why did Hillary decide not to visit Wisconsin?!" Couldn't get a syllable out of them. Almost pitied them.
On my way out I passed a table and said "MAGA! Let's go Trump!" and they were shocked as if they couldn't tell if I was just being an ironic angry shitlib. Get back to my room and stayed on xoxo until I passed out. |
