The more I move crypto, the more convinced I am that ETH ecosystem = garbage

Lol
Crypto was supposed to be a "zero transaction cost" "currency"
(It is neither after nearly a decade)

1. This is a known issue with several solutions on the horizon (EIP 1559, Eth 2.0, integration with Polkadot etc.).
2. Any move away from ETH will ease the gas fees.
3. We saw the same problem with Bitcoin fees and transaction delays, it never got fixed and it didn't matter. Bitcoin clearly won't work for everyday transactions, but that's no longer what people expect. Similarly, ETH may no longer be usable for small-time retail financial services, but it will still be used for large transactions where $200-$300 of gas is well worth the price to get deeper liquidity, less slippage, higher security etc.

This more than anything has convinced me SOL is the way and ETH is straight up faggot dogshit garbage. Every time I want to buy some SOL or SOL-based tokens I have to deposit money to Coinbase, convert to USDC, transfer to Metamask ($50-$100 ETH fees and have to wait 10 minutes), then convert it into SOL version of USDC to move it into my SOL wallet (another $50-$100 ETH gas fees and wait another 10 minutes), then once it is in the SOL system, the fees are tiny and transfers take a few seconds.
What I want to know is, if ETH dies, do all ETH DeFi tokens become worthless? Or is it possible for them to move to SOL or DOT or other blockchains and keep their value?

Depends on whether the original token bridges over to the new chain or not.
E.g. aave launches on BSC. It could used bridged versions of the original token (like you can bridge usdc over to bsc), or they could mint an entirely new token for the bsc version of aave.
First scenario, the tokens potentially increase in value because the same finite amount is now spread over two blockchains. Second scenario, the original tokens go the way of ETH . . .if nobody is using the ETH version of aave and uses the bsc version with the new tokens, those old tokens arent worth much
