Date: March 3rd, 2023 12:46 PM Author: Sienna dysfunction Matt Schlapp, chairman of the Conservative Political Action Conference, said in a statement Friday that political activist and white nationalist Nick Fuentes had been removed from the gathering at National Harbor in Maryland because of “racist rhetoric and actions” that are not consistent with the mission of the conference.
Fuentes — who made national headlines in November for dining with former president Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla. — said in a social media posting Thursday night that he had been “kicked out of CPAC.”
“We are pleased that our conference welcomes a wide array of conservative perspectives from people of different backgrounds, but we are concerned about the rise in antisemitic rhetoric (or Jew hatred) in our country and around the globe, whether it be in corridors of power and academia or through the online rantings of bigots like Fuentes,” Schlapp said in his statement.
Fuentes joined hip-hop artist Ye, formally known as Kanye West, in dining with Trump a week after Trump announced his 2024 presidential election bid. Trump said he was unfamiliar with Fuentes’s background. Both Fuentes and Ye have promoted antisemitism and hate.
