I’d go with A because that is the only one with a clear direct connection to They, and the question asked specifically about an aspect that was most damaged.

B/C/D all could be true, but no evidence as to this being directly the most damaging. Classic example of something a test taker could find frustrating as they may have their own opinions about which of these is most damaging generally, but the question is specific to They.

E is tempting because obvious direct benefit, but the amount of reparations is not defined, so may not be material. Seems closer to the issue with B/C/D than A.

I would have liked to have seen an answer which said something like; politicians passed racist laws which destroyed They’s career, etc. This would have been a clever trick, because the question requires the answer to be fault of white people, and not “politicians” more generally.
